#7 Jay Crawley

Jay Crawley, originally a mid-west boy from Indiana, has now been California-ized.  Jay is married to his wife, Kelly. They now have 2 children, Peyton, and daughter Sydni born in February 2006.

Back in Indiana, Jay played some upper level ball with his team DC Bullets, or Duncan Bullets (I’m sure he will correct me if I am wrong).  I remember when we picked up Jay who had showed up at Kit Carson field in Escondido during our Sunday Night league.  He was itching to play ball.  The first season Jay played with us, he couldn't believe that we could play into December, then start up again in February.  This was (and is) unheard of in Indiana.  Jay really fits in good with the team.

Jay is a Third baseman by trade and doesn’t care to be moved to any other position, especially the outfield, where he has that “deer in the headlights” look about him.  Jay, Woody, Brian Webb, and Joe all tend to hang together drinking their Coors Lights between games. Unfortunately, during one of our Lancaster tournaments the foursome went up early on Friday and celebrated my brother Joe’s birthday by getting drunk and playing tackle football on the front lawn of the hotel.  Needless to say, they were all pretty much useless and hating life that Saturday morning during our games.  It is amazing that we still finished in 2nd place that tournament knowing how poorly we played.

Jay contributes the most on the offensive side, where he possesses a lethal bat and drives that ball a long way when he connects. One word of caution to those pitchers out there - don’t throw him a change up.
